One correction to the article by Yvonne Kinsella, she misquoted me in that I never said I "went to avail of a prostitute on a back street". What I actually said was I visited an escort in an upmarket apartment block in a good part of the city.

Interesting as their photo caption is: "The internet has changed the face of prostitution in Ireland – which is no longer about hanging around street corners"

What I was trying to tell her was :

It is not about sex , it is about company , chat , a relaxed time.

Sex can last 3 minutes , maybe 20 in an hour booking ... Take off the 3 minutes , there are 57 minutes to fill .

Of course , is just an example.

But the point is , we are not sex machines who take it every 15 minutes during 10 hours a day.

I am not arguing this was not happening in the past , I have heard many stories, I will argue it is not happening anymore.

Indeed internet changed the whole sex trade and people s mind. Some still think escorts are only for sex use, that is not going to change. Will always be girls up to it and a market for such.
    Naughty videos on EF.

    SHE used the phrase
    selling her body
In the article, this is a stupid phrase and should be phased out.

Also Clyde is in his forties? A thought it was supposed to be a young man's game?

I guess this has to be positive, a journalist writing on sex work, actually talking to sexworkers. What a novel approach.

Yeah - would agree with the usual lazy 'sell their bodies' derogatory remark and wasn't too happy with the 'deluded' remark in the closing paragraph but overall the article was at least providing an alternative view to the usual 'all victims/all predators ' propaganda. On the other hand , am a little surprised that the comments section which contained many supportive remarks about the sex trade was dumped by the site hosting.

Would like some journalist to write an evidence-led article though from an objective , detached point-of-view as regards the levels of consent, exploitation, criminality and appropriate legislation , within which anectdotes would be important but relegated in favour of a macro-view of the industry.

    Dob,

No one has ever given me a convincing explanation why labouring on a building site or a farmyard for 8-10 hours a day does not qualify as "selling your body", but that 30 minutes of sex work does.
