This is true, but in my mind there's an important distinction between money being an important factor (and in many cases the main or only one) in deciding to sell sex, and it being a last option.

The implication from Ruhama is that escorts are from such poor backgrounds that they have no option but to emigrate and sell sex.

Can I just point out the obvious that everybody seems to want to assist TORL by ignoring?

If this is true, then it is the strongest possible argument AGAINST destroying the demand and eradicating sex work. TORL only use it as an argument to have ye all hung up arguing against yourselves instead of against their nonsense.

To argue that you must take away a person's livelihood because it is their last option is absolutely insane in a vicious and sadistic way...and it is time to just say so and move on to take down the real crap.

From a client point of view, nobody has ever told me I should check that my car mechanic is not doing something he hates out of desperation because that would be ABSOLUTELY NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

I should hate to think (particularly in a recession) how often, when we use a service, or hire someone, we are actually exploiting desperation.
