pure bureaucracy and unnecessary strife
it is normal for someone to have to present a disc is stopped without one or it is out of date
the ten days, gives you time to get your paperwork in order

It is law in this country that you get a certificate of no claim bonus with your renewal notice, (I think you are supposed to get it a minimum of 3 weeks before renewal) but like a lot of things in this country it is not enforced

Was switching from Aviva to Liberty last year. I got my certificate from Aviva with the renewal notice indeed but Liberty wouldn't accept is it didn't state how long I've been insured with them. Had to phone up and ask them specifically for it.
