I find it rude to check the money in front of my visitor, therefore I do it in private.
Do ye think the same or am I doing it wrong?

I am not an expert regarding the business end of the transaction. I am going to guess this is a tough one. Some I guess may get upset about the money being checked in front of them.
However some may like it as what they don't want is some dodgy escort mysteriously coming back with a fake £50 note saying that it's fake

I would have thought that quickly asking "Do you mind if I check this? I've had trouble in the past, even from trusted clients" would work and help the client to understand.
I rarely check money I get... probably should

I think it has nothing to do with being rude and is up to the individual. When I first started doing this I was advised to always count the money in front of the client, because then if there is a problem, you can get it sorted face to face and they know you are being honest. If you check it when they are not present and it is wrong, they could easily say that you have taken some and hidden it to get more etc.
Some clients have counted it into my hand and I admit I find it a little embarrassing. I've also had some that insisted that I count it in front of them.
I won't say which method I chose, as I don't want to put ideas in anyone's heads, but those that have met me will know how I deal with things.
Oh there is also the consideration of fake notes. I have been given fake notes twice in Ireland and once in England so far, so again, it is a bit fool hardy to disregard the payment altogether and you really are leaving yourself wide open if you don't even look at the money before starting the appointment.
So would you say rude or shrewd?
