I'd say look at kitties from the likes of the dspca, maybe visit their shelter and have a loom I promise you, there is nothing more amazing when adopt a pet, the look in their eyes and how excited they are when they are in a new loving home, it's just incredible.

And then if you decide that adopting a pet isn't for your friend then go for the designer show kitten, but be warned if you go for a bengal kitten make sure for the love of gawd that it's a few generations apart from the original asian leopard cat
