Default Is Ireland still great to get a job?!

This morning i had somwthing to do in the Social Welfare office,no im not on the dole
Went there just about 15mins after the opening time, and there were at least 50 ppl in in the queue applying for pps number in front of me!
I was really surprised, the officer who was dealing with me,said these days are the busiest since the last five years!!

Just wondering is it still easy to get a job?!
Dont think so...so why are so many ppl think it is?!
    Good bye Ireland!

Easy to get a job? If you've plenty of experience and qualifications maybe. But for those poor people who've no skills and little experience, it's next to impossible.

We attract a lot of foreign nationals because our social welfare system is so generous.
I knew of foreign nationals who flew from home every week to collect the dole.
Rent allowance etc make it a very attractive proposition for a lot of people, both Irish and foreign nationals.
I am who I am and I am happy with who I am.

I've been on four interviews since last Thursday, and been either told that I'm 'over-qualified' for two different 'Direct Dialogue Fundraiser' jobs (you know those annoying people who stop you on the street asking for donations to their organization?) seeing as I've got a Master's Degree, or been told that I'm 'under-experienced' for entry-level at other jobs which a trained chimp could perform more than adequately. And my most recent from this past Thursday, after much being made of the company in their initial presentation to the potential employees, was nothing more than an outsourcing company doing door-to-door sales...

So yeah, there ARE jobs... But jobs that people really WANT??? Not really. And essentially being told you're 'too intelligent/capable' for a job, which is essentially what being 'overqualified means, seems to be common. It's no wonder the best, brightest, and most highly intelligent and able people LEAVE by the thousands every year...

    Hopefully we will
I know of loads of cases of fraud both by Irish citizens and foreign nationals.
The single parent allowance is the most abused social welfare scheme in the country.

If you worked in any EU country in for at least the last 12 months and loose your job you can come to Ireland and claim social welfare here. Absolutely crazy that someone in Poland or wherever although Poland seems to be the biggest group can loose a job paying them €300-400 a month and they can get 8-900 here a month plus rental allowance and other allowances, sure why wouldn't they come over here in their thousands, I know I would if I was in their situation..
