That's right, I don't double book. In the UK, you book me for x time on x day, I put it in my diary and I expect you to turn up. And 97% will. In Ireland, I learnt that doesn't work. One out of five that book a specific time may turn up. So, I use the first come, first served approach. But I make sure every one calling to see me for a certain time knows this is going to be the case.
And while on the topic, what's with the "I'm just driving into town and will call you when nearer," liars? Once I hear that line, I as good as mark them down in my Time Waster database. Why say you'll be coming if you have no plan to? A lady can take no for an answer!

I would personally never double book myself. If an appointment was cancelled, then I think it would put me out of the mood, and wouldn't be interested in seeing someone else. I'd certainly be out of the mood if I was left waiting 1.5 hours, I'd have moved on long ago. More to life than punting, and tomorrow is another day

I send out 8 or 9 pm's with a time and date. The first one to get back to me. . . Gets me. Lucky girl.
Perhaps that is a Waterford trait? Before I even got there I had a guy book me. I don't take advance bookings from clients I have not met before, so I had told him to call back when I get there, but he asked if I would take a reference. He gave me a name of a lovely girl I do know, so I said yes to the booking on condition of her reply. I then emailed her and she responded, despite being very busy doing other things at the moment.
Half an hour before the booking was meant to take place and he hadn't got in touch, which is something I always ask for. I sent him a text with '?' (trying to keep discreet, as I don't want to get anyone into trouble). He then calls me, but instead of asking for Kate, he calls me a different name. He had gone and booked someone else after me for the same time. He was not going to let me know, so I had refused bookings from several other people for that time slot and obviously was not going to have that booking. All he had to do was send a short text saying he couldn't make it and there would have been no problem.
I'm afraid the person who gave him a reference will not do so again, even though she has no problem with him as a client. It doesn't bother me for one second that he might have been like a child in a sweet shop and had changed his mind on who he had wanted to see, after all it is his money and he can do what he likes with it, but a little common courtesy and respect, would not go a miss.
