While I hated Churchill's policy's towards Ireland during his term, he was still one of the greatest leaders any country has ever had.

I don't think Thatcher will be as fondly remembered as Churchill, but she will be remembered.
And interestingly enough Churchill was in the right place at the right time for WW2. While I wouldnt put Thatchers in Churchill's league as a leader she would certainly be needed in todays era but not necessarily for her policies but as attitude.

Ding Dong the witch is DEAD. raise a glass for sure. Parts of London will burn as they are planning riots over a state funeral.

Oh without a doubt, if it han't been for ww2, churchill would only be a footnote in history, his most famous act being the failure at Galipoli. But he was exactly the leader that Britian needed at the darkest time. Anyway, that discussion is for another thread.

Big J is right the way I see it is there is a beginning and an end and we are all just somewhere in between, we should celebrate life not death, regardless of who it is.

But people hadn't forgotten the Tonypandy massacre and that he was the enemy of socialism and the working class.

That's why they the British public slung him out in 1946 in favour of Labour and Clement Atlee
