TWO South American prostitutes who were operating a brothel from the Hilton Hotel on the Ennis Road were given 48 hours to leave Limerick by Judge Tom O'Donnell at Limerick District Court this Friday.
Both accused - *name removed*, 23, and *name removed*, 26, - pleaded guilty to the charge of keeping a brothel and were sentenced to four months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 12 months.

Garda Celine O'Donnell, Henry Street garda station, told the court that both she and Garda Marie Armstrong called to the premises at around 3.30pm on Thursday and were acting on a complaint made by management at the premises. "On arrival we were informed of suspicious activity carried out in the room of the girls.

Staff observed a number of male callers calling to the room," said Garda O'Donnell.

Five mobile phones were seized by gardai, who found details of an escort agency and their website in the hotel room. The website, which was not named in court, also gave contact numbers for *name removed* and *name removed*, as well as parking facilities nearby.

The court heard a list of appointments, including a price list, was also obtained by gardai.

Judge O'Donnell said this was the second similar case to come before the District Court in recent months, where he was told of some "pretty sordid tales."

He said it was also the second occasion where no coercion appeared to be involved. He ordered that both parties should receive €200 from the cash seized by gardai (totalling over €800) to allowed them to make arrangements to return to Spain. The judge also ordered that all of items seized in the hotel room should be forfeited to the State.
