    Default Brit-pop

Being a teenager of the 90's, in Britain, my musical taste was influenced by the culture of 'Cool Britannia'. Tony Blair was a freshed-faced Prime Minister promised to make Britain a more prospective Kingdom, the Spice Girls changed the attitudes of girls and brought us 'Girl Power', Jonny Rotten told the government to go and fuck themselves on national television and the newspapers were brimmed with stories of the never-ending feuds between Oasis and Blur.

Murt and I are reminiscing our childhoods by listening to the first Oasis album, Definitely Maybe:

In July of 1996, I went to see Bon Jovi at Main Road in Manchester, kicking off with support band Skunk Anansie and it was awsome! At the time, I had the long hair and everything

Other bands I listened to in the 90's included:

    • Queen
    • The Doors
    • Aerosmith
    • Alice Cooper
    • Alanis Morrisette
    • Jewel
    • Ocean Colour Scene
    • Guns and Roses

And of course many more! Granted not all of these are British bands!

A lot of my mates got into the rave scene and (tragically) others got into 'crappy hardcore' and house music, but that was too much for me and I preferred listening to proper live bands rather than all this techno stuff, but different strokes for different folks and all that.

So what music did you enjoy during the 90's?

Not a fan of the music, but in the 90's, I wanted to smash:

    Natalie Imbruglia

    Wigfield

And of course (and admittedly, I was a fan of their music):

The Corrs (yes, I would do Jim to get to the rest of them
