Default Paying tax in Ireland as an escort...

When I read about how it is hard for escorts to pay tax in Ireland I am confused. I've read things like-

"If sex workers do not pay tax in Ireland , is because our job is not legal in the way to pay the tax."

"Irish escorts do not pay tax on prostitution job. UK escorts pay taxes in their country with the money got from prostitution in Ireland"

Erm. I don't get it. Currently the laws in the UK and Ireland are pretty much the same. It has been my experience that the tax man doesn't give a damn what job title you give yourself once you are paying him his due tax.

I know girls that register as escorts giving them the benefit of being able to claim for condoms so on but the majority would say they were therapists and such like. I feel like if you want to be a legit tax payer you will be. Is the option of being self employed not available in Ireland or something?

Escorting in Ireland is not illegal and in my opinion saying because you are an escort you cannot pay tax is odd. What are your opinions?

the way i see it is of the escorts that can pay tax most just wont pay tax and some i'd say even claim social welfare and would lose that if they were to pay tax.
i also know that a lot of escorts are here on visa's that would not allow them to work so cant pay tax even if they wanted to.

i dont see it as funny at all. i see a lot of escorts looking for protection from the lawmakers in this country and looking to have their say in what laws are passed in this country and yet will pick and choose what laws they choose to follow.

Like with all cash in hand trades there will always be those that do not pay tax or pay less than they should. If I were to say my tax records over the last 5 years where all accurate I'd be a liar. However for the most part we are allowed and there is always a way.

My main thing is I do not understand the argument that has been previously used (see my first post) that we are not able to pay it! Obviously if someone is here on say a student only visa they are not allowed to work thus cannot pay tax on their earnings.

This isn't me having a bash at ladies who don't pay tax or pay less than they should. I am not angel in any walk of life and peoples finances are not my biz. However I am curious to know if people think escorts cannot pay because in my opinion and experience they can.

    Under the Swedish Model :

"All income is taxable, even prostitution earnings, but the tax office does not accept "prostitution" or "sex work" as a business if a person wishes to register a company (and because of the Pandering law they cannot be employees)."

I could be way off the mark here but I believe a lot of the girls that are here at the moment wouldn't be entitled to pay tax here due to the fact they can't work or have their hours or income limited due to their residency or visa status. For example a lot of the Brazilian girls are here on student visas and, as far as I know, have their hours or earnings limited under the terms of such a visa.

Lol I can see it already! You never know if the new laws come in there will be a lot more therapists and a lot less escorts!

Why the Brazilian girls would pay tax in Ireland when the UK escorts pay tax ( if they do) in England?!

then register as an escort who only charges for time and compainionship and not sex.

Yes- but we are not CURRENTLY under the Swedish model.

That is fair and I understand that. If you are working on student visa paying tax isn't really your issue. But there are a lot of EU citizens here too, I hope that people don't think because they are an escort they cannot legally pay tax because they can.

I don't care if someone does but I think it's important that people know they can. I'm sure a lot of girls wish they could as it makes renting or buying a house easier amongst other things.
