I usually start by giving a courteous Hello and then asking " is this (Girls Name)" quite often they don't actually say their name when they answer the phone. Then I introduce myself and ask if they are free for an appointment at 2pm (Usually a few hours in advance of the appointment time) If she responds positively i would normally ask where is the best place to park the car? and then i would normally ring then again when i am on foot about 10 mins before scheduled appointment.

Being honest, I've found the farmers, well the small few I've seen, very appropriate and mannerly...
