The way I see it though and don't get me wrong here. Surely it is best to leave it all together if someone makes comments in a demeaning way. If we all fought back against all the comments made against us, the boards would be 100% bickering. Report, remove and get on with a decent conversation/topic.

Others are welcome to have other views of course.

I think that the boards are pleasant most of the time, it's just that when there is a big argument between certain posters, people love to play on the drama and make things a bigger deal than they actually are. These problems are then amplified when another argument (or a deliberate, 'around the houses' continuation thread) is started and these posts are brought up again.

When it comes to dealing with issues on the boards, we always find that the 'guilty' party plays down the situation and the person complaining about it exaggerates things somewhat, so we try to shoot down the middle when trying assess what the situation really is. It's difficult, I won't lie to you, and sometimes we get it wrong, so I will say this; if there is something that needs to be reported and you genuinely have a problem with the post(er), rather than get involved in a public slanging match, just report it and leave it at that until a mod or manager can deal with it.

Just to reiterate, most of the time, these forums are very pleasant. Unfortunately a lot of people enjoy the pandemonium and will deliberately antagonise the situation just for shits and gigs, and people always rise to the bait. There is a diverse range of people using these forums, and it's a weird and wonderful place, but remember; it's a bloody internet forum! Sometimes people need to step back and take a moment to have a reality check.

Gandalf gave his life for the fellowship, but he came back as badass gandalf in return for his good deeds.

Being neither a hobbit, doctor or badass wizard, I'm afraid that I'll have to cancel my own show.

On a serious note, certain things just rub me up the wrong way. It's part of my growing process where I need to learn to be dismissive of the things that annoy me (and not be drawn into arguments by trolls or those with vested interests), but equally, others need to recognise where they're being idiotic. that's very very hard to do online. I don't participate much in forums for my profession either, so it's not just here. However, I find most people reasonable and quite likeable when facing them. It's just the internet which tends to turn them (and periodically, myself) into fools.

Why should I lose all that, just because one or two people think they can walk over everyone?

What is the alternative? It's not great either way.
Yup, agreed. The answer for you isn't as simple as it is for me, because I don't depend on this place for my income.

    I've just stopped enjoying it.....

......says the guy who's just written his third post for the morning. :$ That worked out well.....

A lot can be misconstrued when your typing things out and this will happen for everyone at some point. Always best to give the benefit of the doubt where you can and we see a good example of that above.

My post above when I re-read could have been taken as patronizing and was in no way meant to, yet you took it, had a joke about it and went on with the topic.
