Ha!! I heard the saying there are only 2 types of nationalilty - those that are Irish and those that want to be. As an English person here for many years I truly believe there is something special here - even with the recession and the politicians and banks etc, Irish people have a lot to be proud of. And their football and rugby fans are brilliant and as country I find everyone I've met to be generous and tolerant with a great outlook on life and with unique humour. And if your comparing dirty streets etc, only got to look at the riots in the UK last summer from rentamob and whats happening now in Belfast. Everyone had their issues, but I believe ROI is great place to live (if you have a job) !

I don't really get the concept of being proud to be from any country, It being an accent of birth and all. Its not like I did something to be Irish. So how can I be proud of myself for it. I wouldn't say I'm proud of Ireland either. The politics of the whole place suck big time north and south. I can be proud of the Irish people I know I guess. I don't think I can be proud of a whole country. Having said that I obviously support all Irish sports teams full-heartedly because that's just what you....

There are times I am ashamed to be from Ireland, the carry on of our politicans, bankers, clergy etc,but there is no place like home no matter where home is or in what country.
