As a race we are still primitive, evolution moves slowly, yet we need to evolve.

Its not that we are any worse then the rest of the animal kingdom that annoys me it that with our intelligence we should be much better. Humanity is unique only in its ability to be able to exist in such extremes be it cruelty or kindness

Just a point on the neanderthals, people outside Africa share up to 4% of their DNA with them.

LM217, you dwell on this stuff too much, it's okay to think about it sporadically but you're only getting yourself down by holding a grudge against humans. I heard a great Ghandi quote on the radio: "holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the enemy to die."
For all our plotting, greed and manipulation we do to try and climb the ladder to wealth and power, there is one absolute force and that is nature; neither good or bad it just is. At anytime it can wipe out an entire population whether they deserve it or not. Don't worry about the planet, it'll be fine.
Also it seems that in order to cope with your alienation, you may convince yourself that you're better than the rest of humans in general by setting yourself apart. You should do the opposite; affirm that you're a human amongst others and that every individual is important. The sooner you let go of the need for the world to be ideal, the sooner you'll find some peace and calm amongst the chaos all around us.

    Amen to that.
Intelligence isn't something that makes you any better than others. After all it's not your merit that you are getting better ideas or that your brain processes them in a better way. It's something you were born with while others weren't. It could be you who were born with a lesser brain and then you would be just as stupid as the ones you criticize.
Kindness and compassion in the face of adversity on the other hand, is something we all need to practice and it has little to do with intelligence. Acceptance of the world as it is will bring peace to it. Anger brings only more violence and hate. Even if just toward yourself you will see it reflected around you too.
And please, dont get an idea about the world from what the media want you to believe in.
