Pandora's World and Judas Unchained by Peter Hamilton. One novel in two volumes of one thousand pages each.

Hard SF with a lot of laughs, adventure, sex and violence. Fantastic characters, genuinely alien aliens and some really scary humans too. It is not an easy read but it is well worth the effort. If it is ever made into a movie, it will make Avatar and all the Tolkein stuff look limp.

If that is too much, try Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. A more conventional length for a novel but just as much of the hard SF, sex and action as the Hamilton books.

The Report of the Leveson Inquiry: Culture, Practice and Ethics of the Press.

Big selling point is that it's free, and in fairness it could arguably reach the fiction market.

If you like the Ross O' Carroll Kelly books, the latest one is good, or "Triggs" by the same author, (Paul Howard) which is funny mainly because all the footballers talk to each other like they're giving a post- match interview.

I picked this up this morning, I have no clue is it any good but the short description had caught me

"The novel describes a Sweden that few have met and gives a voice to a large part of the population that is normally never heard: it tells the story about three girls from around the world and their encounter"
"African girl, has fled a refugee camp in Spain for the promise of a new life in Sweden" , "Tania has made a long and dangerous journey to escape the horrors of human trafficking."

Will let ya know is it any good in couple of days time
