Always use the standard windows screensaver, old habit from when a systems resources were pretty crap, adding the burden of a fancy screensaver actually slowed the PC down. nowadays thats not the case on most systems but I also find they distract from the icons and makes it awkward to see them properly, especially if you've got as many as I have..

Is that the ones that come pre-loaded with the computer? If so, I know the pictures and they are pretty awesome.

My son tells me off if I have too many icons on my desktop, he says they slow the computer down lol.

Icons and shortcuts not really, what slows a PC down especially on startup is if you have images/files/folders on your desktop, your PC on startup caches all on the desktop and if you've a lot of stuff on there it slows the whole process down, especially if you don't have a lot of ram. best to place everything in folders in your documents or C: drive and create shortcuts to them on the desktop if necessary.

I have a pic of my daughter. When I am working late it reminds me why I am.

Haha although he could be working late to avoid her if she is bratty lol. My maternal side took it he meant that he worked late to make money to look after her. I wonder which it is?
