    Question Question im curious about?

you know the way there is always a Jury in the court room i mean how do them people get there iv heard rumours that you can be just contacted out of the blue by the law and say your going to be part of a Jury on some court case!

i mean like i wouldn't like to do that im awful thick and stupid like and plus imagine you were called to be part of a jury for some murder case

surly to god been on the dole rules you out

so yes thats my question do random people be just picked for a jury? or do them random people like sign a form or some shit shit agreeing that if there ever needed for a part of a Jury that they will do it? or do you need some big qualifications or some shit?

and yes i know i am awful stupid and all but im curious is all?

    i need answers im bored

ps. i couldnt be arsed googling it cause im bored and felt like typing haha plus thought it be better to get answers from my forum buddies.... and ohh ohh has anybody here ever been part of a Jury?

You get a letter to go (not asked!) and if you dont go then a letter is sent out to 12 more people to throw your ass in jail!

You have to be on the register of electors.

You are disqualified only if you are a officer of the court, or have been convicted of a crime within the last ten years, a government employee, over 65 years of age, you have served on a jury in the last three years.

It is an offence to not show up, to be drunk or under the influence of drugs, serving when you know you are disqualified, making a false representation to allow you to evade jury service (i.e. serious medical appointment which you don't actually have).

Then it's just like in the films. You show up, the Judge questions each juror about his suitability, and both sides have seven strikes to have you removed from the jury without reason (i.e. they don't like the look of you) and this carries on until 12 satisfactory jurors are found.

You continue to be paid your dole for any day which you must attend court.

I had previous convictions when I was "asked to attend" but I got out by pleading the 5th ............. and they believed I was insane.
