So did any of you lot know him/know about him?

    Is Dublin in shock?
irish gangland is a bit of an obsession of mine, reading bout it not partaking in it, but i can't say i was very familiar with this character. and it's amazing that if he's the big cheese that the media make him out to be (a) how did he manage to last so long and (b) why he wasn't more security conscious?

He was a top gangster, one of the few responsible for killing RIRA Dublin head, Alan Ryan. He's done his far share of mudering so no sympathy from me. They know exactly what they're getting into.

Mainly because people knew the names, and knew the police could never touch them. They become sort of local celebrities, and when it finally happens, there is shock that it has finally happened, as you get used to them going on from year to year earning their ill gotten gains.

Though in reality you are right, you shouldn't really, in the cold light of day be shocked
certainly not deliberately missing any points, I think as someone that doesn't live in Ireland you are putting too much credence on what the papers are saying. I may of read about Eamon Kelly once or twice in the papers, he certainly wasn't some type of John Gotti character that was known to everyone. Instead he was someone that 99.99% of us had no idea about and will be forgotten about just as quickly.
