It was in the newspapers years ago,in fact there are a few cases of it happening,rabbits will swim out to islands off shore as well,your man was not believe either untill it happened to someone else who had withnesses,it seemed the local rabbit population would swim over in the morning to an island in the middle of a river and back again in the evening,sadly I do not remember the newspaper,it also made some of the fishing magazines at the time,rabbits are excellent swimmers.
