Brock I'll ask you to not twist my words.
There is a difference with not having a problem with something and not advising it.
For example- I have no problems if a girl wants to advertise ana as a service, however I would not advice it. I don't think it should be illegal but at the same time if someone wanted advice from me I would advise against it.
I am not implying shit, I am stating my opinions. I have never said it was "terrible" just that I would personally if asked it would not be something I would endorse and instead I'd offer other solutions.
Hope that simplifies it somewhat for you.

[QUOTE=Brock;934002]Yet you could? Rachel certainly could. Thus shattering your implied conclusions that all agencies are akin to slavery.
i said some agencies not all are akin to slavery. Re read my post. And you dont know how i left the agencies i have worked for so dont go making assumptions about me.
and again you have not answered my question which agency have you ran or currently run, seeing as you think you know so much about it you must be in the industry yourself. You seem to favour agency girls and have contempt for independents.

Brock has never said what direction he/she is coming from, what his/her interest is here.
The posts from Brock popped up out of nowhere as soon as the Sex Work Law and Media forum opened..

A similar thread was locked by managers and the points were added to the sticky thread. I know it's slightly different but still related. If managers feel it should be reopened they will do in the morning.

Okay, I've spent the morning reading this.
I am going to leave this locked, but thought I would add a few points myself.
- A poster stated how predictable this thread was, saying that I would come along, followed by QueenBee and it would be locked on page 80. I saw this thread was started last night when I quickly logged on from home and also had predictions of my own: that this would be locked by page 80, that a certain group of posters would jump on other certain posters and that there would be public accusations of people having some sort of agenda.
- We hear of agencies treating escorts like a 'cash-cow'. Now, there is probably some truth in that because as a business, they have to have some sort of 'commodity' to 'sell' to the public to make money. In this instance, an agency sells their services to escorts. As a business, we sell web-space. So what about clients? Are they not a 'cash cow', a means of making money? What's the difference? If we are suggesting that agencies literally treat an escort like meat on a conveyor-belt and don't care for their well-being at all, that is not necessarily the case.
- Yes, Ruhama and other anti-prostitute organisations do read these forums, so why not discuss it? Why not let them see that this is something we are willing to debate and that there are holes in their stories? These organisations aren't bothered about agencies or independent, they want to criminalise all clients that pay for sex, full-stop. They want to help women out of the sex industry and rehabilitate them into a 'normal' life. Independent escorts, these groups want to take your rights to do this away completely, not just agency escorts.
- I created a sticky thread with these points, yes. I locked the thread so that this can be retained as easily-accessible public information, undiluted by pages of thoughts and comments. There is nothing wrong with opening up the topic and debating it further. If people don't want to contribute to this thread, they don't have to. Why does it have to be a public-hanging when we talk about something controversial?
- If Brock as an anonymous poster wants to pop in and discuss points relating to the sex industry, then why shouldn't he do so without being questioned about it? He is one of few people that do make a positive contribution to something crucial to the sex industry forums, and personally feel that I have learned a lot from him.
- I do feel that certain posters have deliberately sabotaged the thread, forcing it to take the same direction of the previously locked thread so that it would be regarded as a continuation thread, pushing it to get locked. The point of the thread was different to the other thread, albeit surrounding a similar topic.
- Obviously discussing agencies is very taboo, but why should it be? There have been some excellent points and clearly there have been many different experiences for escorts that have worked for agencies. If this debate had never taken place, we wouldn't know half the things we know now.
- As far as terminology goes, in the eyes of the law, pimps and agencies are the same thing. As mentioned in the locked sticky thread, if an independent escort hires a secretary, takes a husband on tour or even pays for an advert on behalf of another escort, in the eyes of the law, it can also be the same thing, yet our public perception doesn't regard this as the same thing, that is what I think Rachel was trying to get at. Like it or not, the independent escorts that run agencies are also pimps or madams too, but this is also something clients or either unaware of or don't regard as the same thing.
Everyone has their own agenda in this industry. Everything is a play on words, everyone makes suggestive comments. This is how competition works. At least the facts are there for people to make up their own mind, but there is a process of conditioning people into thinking the worst, whether it's by an independent escort, a client or an NGO, all with very different agenda.
