Back to the HIV issue. There is a saying, " If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!"
We are all promiscous and at risk of picking up STD's. Medically, promiscuity is defined as one having more than 7 sexual partners in lifetime. So apart from Banjaxed, we are all f*cked .
Using condoms greatly reduces the risk of getting HIV and other STD's but it doesn't remove the risk. Incidentally HIV is not the most transmissable STD. Hepatitis B is far more transmissable. HIV and Hep B are the two fatal STDs. However, the prognosis for both has improved remarkably with newer treatments, and case fatalities has likewise reduced.
There of course is a vaccine against Hep B, so if you are still reading this and haven't got your vaccine - you really need to get your head checked. Or more pratically get you ass down to your GP and get the vaccine. It's series of two or three jabs over a 6 month period, depending on your immune response, as far as I recall. I had my jab years ago and on recent testing immunity is still good.
I was pretty much celibate (not by choice!) in the few years before I started seeing escorts. So when I finally started seeing escorts I had to face up to the possibility of getting any of the STD's including HIV. This isn't because escorts are harbingers of disease (which as we've heard from Doctor Friedman, that it's quite the opposite) , but because it's simple math that the more partners you have in life the more likely you are to pick stuff up. I made a risk benefit assement for myself and I take the necessary precautions but am fully aware that nothing is fool proof. But this is my decision - and it would be foolish for anyone to be participating in this industry with their head buried in the sand.
As regards testing - 3 monthly is the standard recommended time provided you don't have symptoms. If you have any symptoms - knob rot etc.... then obviously pop over to your GP and get tested. The standard STD testing includes blood tests for HIV/Hep B and Syphilis; and urine testing for Clamydiae and Gonnorhea. If you perform fellatio then it may be wise to also get a throat swab for clamydiae and gonnorhea. If you have a penile discharge than you will need a urethral swab (nurse sticking a cotton bud up your cock..ouch!!!!!).
