Default Garda Sergeant, 65k a year, family eats cornflakes for dinner...

did any of how hear this story that is doing the rounds today?
so it goes something like this, there is a Garda Sergeant who earns €65,000 a year before tax, the mortgage costs €1400 per month, but him and his family are struggling to such an extent that they have days when all they can afford to eat are cornflakes, also known as 'cornflake' days apparently...
just another example of how SOME of the public service are taking the p#ss!!

Apparently after they pay all their bills (esb, gas , etc) they only have just over 100 euro/ week to survive on

load of bllox my house combined income 30k/year, mortgage and loans alone = 1,300/ month(almost same as his mortgage) and we eat a good home cooked (by myself) everyday

He would want to tell his wife to stop spending 120Euro a week on her hair styles, stop shopping in Superquinn and bring a packed lunch to the station with him
