STI Screening in COVID Times

Rate this Entry
HI Everyone,

I am getting quite a few messages and requests for information about where people can go for testing under the current restrictions.

So i have decided to post my complete email reply here for you all in case people here might have similar questions
There are two google searches that are Limerick based in the links included, but i am sure you can google search your own location without much help from me

Hi,

Part of the issue at the moment is that the laboratory's are being used for covid screening which had dramatically reduced capacity for other tests.

Also, with restrictions on movement etc, most places are operating at limited capacity with regards to staff and opening hours.
This means that whatever option you choose will probably take a little longer to organise and get results than previously.

You have a few options:
1) If you have symptoms contact your local clinic and tell them so.
They may be able to make an appointment for you.
Here is a locator so you can easily find your nearest one:
https://www.hivireland.ie/hiv/testin...entre-locator/

2) If your symptoms are painful you might need to see a doctor immediately for treatment.
In this case your best option would be to use a walk in GP.
For example, there are a few available in Limerick:

Alternatively, you could make an appointment with any GP who is providing STI screening:
https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1GGRV_enIE898IE899&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:2&tbm=lcl&sxsrf=ALeKk01xcBuzFPaTm wADHNA3P7N3Nu-DDg:1610098370957&q=STI+tests+GP+Limerick&rflfq=1&num=10&ved=2ahUKEwjW6dDrg4zuAh U2ZxUIHQBuAtEQtgN6BAgqEAc#rlfi=hd:;si:;mv:[[52.6767256,-8.5665889],[52.622259199999995,-8.6624643]];tbs:lrf:!1m4!1u3!2m2!3m1!1e1!1m4!1u2!2m2!2m1!1e1!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ ui:2

3) You could get a STI test you use yourself at home and send off for results:
If you are living in Dublin, Cork or Kerry there is currently a pilot program providing free ones:
https://sh24.ie/ (although i believe uptake was so large they have had to postpone roll out for a while)

You could purchase one online which is delivered by post:
https://www.letsgetchecked.com/ie/en...BoCUegQAvD_BwE
https://www.better2know.ie/shop/home...hoCMS4QAvD_BwE
https://www.hometesting.ie/

You could purchase one online which you can pick up in store:
https://www.lloydsonlinedoctor.ie/ie/sexual-health-men
http://apply.webdoctor.ie/sti-std-ho...BoCVMIQAvD_BwE

4) We provide rapid tests for HIV, Hep C and Syphilis. There are three other organisations in the country doing rapid tests also:

The rapid testing is available in:
Cork: https://www.sexualhealthcentre.com/rapid-hiv-testing
Limerick: support@goshh.ie, 061314354
Galway:http://www.sexualhealthwest.ie/
Dublin: https://www.hivireland.ie/what-we-do...sting-service/

Also you could order a free one online to do at home, but i think this might be only for HIV:
Home testing: https://selftest.hivireland.ie/

Hope this information helps.

Best Regards
