Reflections over the past 7 days.
I am the type of person that likes to plan, be organised and have a place for everything and everything in its place. At times this seems slightly institutionalised and when things don’t go to plan it does not matter how much planning you do rash decisions can sometimes be made.
The week started with a Business trip to Glasgow. It was all planned. Booked on early flight for 10.00am meeting with an estimated duration of 1.5 – 2 hours leaving plenty of time for an escort visit before plane departure @ 5pm. Armed with a list of 5 girls and contact details in order of preference I was going to have some FUN!!.
How wrong was I - Meeting never started until 11.00am, discussions never followed agenda with people going off on tangents on totally irrelevant topics. I was there to do business, identify the problems offer solutions and make some money. The start on time, stay on time, finish on time attitude was absent from this meeting (and hopefully not from the company). If it wasn’t for a potential long term contract I was for walking out. Meeting eventually finished at 14.30 without a lunch break. Hospitality consisted of 1 cup of coffee and plain digestive biscuits – pathetic. Well needless to say my escort visits were scrubbed and me not a happy chappie.
Grabbed a bite to eat then headed to airport. Slightly deflated I wander aimlessly through the airport shops and came across a massage station. What a bargain 30 min massage (fully clothed) for £28. Boy it was the best massage I have had in a long long time. The lady really knows how to manipulate and work your upper body and relieve all the stresses, 30mins later a new me appeared. Next stop was looking at watches (a fetish of mine) temptation got the better of me and a purchase was made. Turned out a good day after all.
Tuesday one of my esteemed and long term employees died from ill health thus creating a sombre mood amongst the work force. An untimely event with only 6 months to go before his retirement. This was followed in the evening by a close friend having a heart attack at the young age of 45. I hadn’t planned for these events on Sunday afternoon. Wed, thurs, Friday continued with the fallout of Tuesdays events.
Saturday
Your life is dotted with milestones and on Saturday another proud one was reached in my life. My daughter turned 17 and we spent 4 hours driving around the north coast together. Nerves, car, father & daughter returned safely. The down side is I now have to sneak out of the house or else she is there wanting to drive. So anyone with previous experience of teaching a son or daughter to drive and would like to give a few tips on do’s and don’ts would be very much appreciated. Just got a text while typing this from daughter asking when I will be Home. So bye for now and apologies for the rambling.

What a stressful week that was Legs and sad in so many ways too.
I hate those type of meetings and have been to many where no decisions are made and it's all talk and more talk about nothing useful. Think some people simply like to hear their own voices. I can remember participating in a few such meetings and saying to myself 'what the f**k planet are you on' and 'why don't you just shut up'. Like yourself I am very well organised and have no time for drivel at important meetings.

Not a good week at all with your long term employee dying and the other having a heart attack so young.

On the bright side the massage sounds great and the driving tuition for your Daughter is a difficult one as my own Daughter took lessons from an instructor but can remember being so enthusiastic about driving at that age and such an important step in life. Can recall the day I did my test and had to ask the examiner if I passed or not. He threw the slip of paper over at me and said 'just about'. Think things have changed a little since then.
Great to hear your story and better stop or my reply will end up longer than your Blog. :)

My only advice about teaching your daughter to drive is don't ! It can be stessful on both sides.
To pass your test you have to drive in a certain way, exaggerated looking in mirrors etc, you can always use the old excuse of you don't want her to pick up your bad driving habits !
