I just thought that someone should put something together that might be of some help to new posters joining the forum.

Firstly Welcome !

Pull up a chair and get comfortable.

1. Expect to have the complete piss taken out of you, it happens to everyone at the start. It stops quite quickly if you show you have a good sense of humor about it. Think thick skin, actually think armour plating ! Sadly for some posters it has never stopped, they deserve it :) you will get to know who after a bit.

2. As a new poster most people on the forum will be slightly suspicious of you, either expecting you to be a Troll-(Trolling: If your posts are generally negative, unhelpful, rude, and confrontational, then you are a troll. Trolls are banned.), or a returning previously banned poster with a grudge.( There are a lot of both about.)

3. Don't start your first thread complaining about prices escorts charge ( This is a horse that has been thouroughly flogged to death). You will not get a good reaction.

4. If you are digging yourself into a hole in an arguement that you can't win, don't expect any help. Actually expect the opposite, some posters will actively help you dig that hole even deeper ! And then sit back and watch you being buried alive !

5. If you have something about yourself that you don't want known then don't reveal it. If someone calls you a fatty and you react negatively, most people will probably nickname you fatty from that day on. This is the nature of the humor here.

6. There are a number of questions that get asked rather frequently in here. Re-asking an already asked question tends to attract apathetic and disinterested answers. Reading the answers to an already answered question and commenting on them tends to attract much admiration and people willing to put inordinate amounts of effort in to helping you.

There is a search function on the forum (see where it says 'SEARCH' in big letters up and right) so please use it!

There are a lot of witty, insightful posters on this site, don't be afraid to join in. But remember it's always best to learn to walk before you run.

Most of all enjoy yourself.
