I admit to being a little bit confused (well more than a litttle bit) about the borderline between Fantasy Roleplay and BDSM.

I understand through my own experiences that Fantasy Roleplay is about several things including dressing up as different characters e.g. Nurse, Doctor, Boss and Secretary etc etc and living out that role in privacy. What I wonder though when does this become something different when say for example the Doctor wants to spank the Nurse or vice versa and the spanking becomes something whcih leaves visible marks.

BDSM I understand is a very wide area covering lots of stuff from mild punsihment to severe pain depending on the agreement between those involved. If a couple or more decide that they want to enact a slave Mistress scenario would that not be classed as fantasy roleplay developing to some form of BDSM when other variables are included such as needle play, cock and ball torture, flogging etc?

There is also masochism and sado masochism amongst other things which I suppose can be integrated into both Fantasy Roleplay and BDSM. So really what I am wondering at what stage does Fantasy Roleplay become something more than that? By the way I am quite and amateur at this so will be good to hear from people with experience or those also simply curious. :confused:
