to marry or not to marry

Marriage?
Is it for all of us?
What truly means to be married? Share your life with someone? well yeah maybe but you share your life with lots of people, friends, family sometimes somebody you just met, sometimes your psychologist... so it's not that big of a deal
Share all your intimate secrets with another person? neahh nobody does that, we all have our little secrets, sometimes is going to an escorts other times it's eating a twix in the bathroom so nobody else knows that your cheating your diet.
Have a friend besides you through good and bad? well maybe sometimes they leave when it's bad sometimes they stay. Divorce has made it quit easy to leave.
Have sex when ever you want? haha we all know thats not true
So what' s the point of it?
Having somebody by your side when you leave this world? I think thats it... being sure that no matter what she/he will be there for you and that you will not feel alone when that happens... this may be it... I don't know ... I think no one really knows why do people get married and why they stay married...maybe it's love, maybe it's the idea of love or maybe it's the fact that you don't want to feel lonely anymore, you want to be sure that if you get home somebody will be there, somebody who will help you through your problems and in return whats you to help them. It's a co-dependent relationship... I need you as much as you need me... At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what makes 2 people marry as long as their both happy right? But what if the happiness doesn't last? What then?

You may share your life with many people, but those are just moments in your life - you don't really build your life with them. So I think many yearn to find someone to go on life's journey together. It's always more pleasurable to share experiences with someone than experiencing it alone.

I would agree with most of your points Nicolle. You can do all the above with someone (and it might not just be 1 person) without being married. Marriage is seen as a socially mandatory - a statement to society that 2 people belong together (and some do it purely for tax purposes!).

Did you not grow up looking at weddings, the beautiful bride - the beaming groom...etc? Religion of course played a major role in this "norm" - but I think it is slowly changing. How often have we seen forced weddings because the woman got pregnant? It was seen as unacceptable to have the baby out of wedlock - and often times it ended up in an unhappy marriage and ultimately divorce. So Marriage won't ensure that someone will be with you when you die. If you are lucky, you'll be the first to go - but then what about you when it is your time? You'll be alone anyway.

and how did you know about the Twix!!

In the majority of cases , I would guess that people get married in order to start a family .

If the happiness doesn't last then , if they can afford it, they go their separate ways.

Nicolle, you don't say how you feel about getting married . Would you like to one day ? If so, why ?

Yes a lot of couples get married because of the baby ... some work out some don't... I just don't think that society should influence us so much and about the twix been there, done that hahaha xxx

Well I think you can have a family whit out getting married.. Marriage at the end of the day is just a piece of paper...I would love to get married (maybe some day) but only because of the dress haha love does weeding dresses but I'll just have a small marriage, no priest, no papers to sign... only a beach, some friends and our vows thats it for me... I dont need or want the big hassle. I think the simpler the better

Women only seem to want to get married it's all they talk about I think it's because they think the man will change but he never does and then they complain about him constantly, when you go home to an empty house making your own dinner it's really the last thing you want to hear in work

If you don't have a formal bond, it is too easy to walk away when things are not good.

While it's pretty easy to find people to do things with, the tricky bit is finding someone to do nothing with.
When you do find that person ... marry them.
