looks vs kidness

why are we so concerned with our looks? with our clothes? with our hair, make up, style?
why are these things in life so important?
ok I get the all if you look good you feel good! but why is society trying to set standarts on what pretty is? is blonde pretty is brunette ugly? why should I be slim? why should we have a perfect body that the society says it is. In the Renaissance women were sexy and beautiful if they were actually (schocking I know) FAT!
I don't really care about looks in a man honestly if he is nice, clean and respects me, makes me laugh then thats more important then if he were all muscles or bold or brunette. I haven't been in many relationships but I always try to put more accent on the personality and the mentality of a man then on his looks. I think society is poisoning us with these standarts bit by bit until we cant see the real beauty in a person.

It's mostly due to media/corporations and subsequent advertising that have defined "beauty" in modern times. They all want you to buy whatever it is they're selling to achieve this perception. Everyone is in such a rush nowadays, that they don't have time - or don't take the time to really get to know each other, so all people look at are what they initially see, which in turn is dictated to us by the media as to what is desirable.

But why do we allow for media to dictate the "beauty". Why not choose for ourself instead of liseaning to others.... so dissapointed in humanity right now. We should stop hurring to do what we want and start thinking on what we already have

They should not feel the need the change their appearance etc based on pressure from society, others etc; if they want to do this they should do it for themselves first and foremost.

Initial attractions are often based on looks, however it is personality and whats inside that keep people together. When looks fade you could still be the most beautiful person to others. A bit soppy for a friday evening, but what the hell
haha it is not a bit soppy hun it is the truth, but sadly there are not a lot of people that think in the way that you think we, the sensitive souls , are a few in this world lead by appearences, looks and greed. But not to worry we will triumph at some point haha

If society worships the slim elegant look, then why do the majority of people chose to be out of shape and over weight ?

Well in Romania there are not a lot of people overweight and most of them actually work out. In Ireland I honestlly don't see a lot of people on the streets who are overweight I actually them jogging. But maybe I am wrong.

As an escort beauty is the only thing you have so society setting standards makes it benifical ??? a person paying for sex with you is also great for confidence ,beauty also seems to get more friends ,into more social circles ,better partners or more choice of partners so more and romantic experiences and bigger social circles and better life in work and leisure where when your ugly you have limited social interactions with opposite sex ,lower confidence and self esteem ,lesser social circles ,no love life ,less opportunities and your resorted to paying a women to be with you

It seems normal to me that we are attracted to beautiful things. How important that beauty is, however, is another matter.
Humans tend to follow 'the crowd', want to be part of the crowd (see Twitter, etc) and so judge things like morals, ethics, justice ... and beauty by what the crowd says is right.
This consensus tends to change significantly over time, so is clearly not essentially 'true' but rather fashion.
