Alors- ma première blog.
I have been pondering for a while now whether or not to start one. Chances are nobody will read it, I will become slack and stop writing or it will just be downright boring. But I'm going to do it regardless as I'm a bad ass mofo
The sex industry for me has been a part of my life for some time now although I am only 20. I started out stripping in Norway, worked in numerous Hostess clubs and slowly graduated to the world of the London Agency. A little while back I took the step to become independent and have never looked back.
What I do is something of a grey area amongst my friends and family. A select few are in the know which makes life easier and safer. They know where I am, what I'm doing and when I'm due home. Some have their suspicions. "Amber- is that another new Marc Jacobs you have there!?" Errr yesAnd then there are those I choose to keep completely in the dark- i.e. my mother and father.
A few days ago I received a call from somebody I considered a good friend. She had seen my photos online (God knows what she was looking for- probably a bloody job!) and had instantly recognised me. She was astonished and outraged.
When she confronted me with the question "Are you an escort" my simple answer was "Yes". She was shocked. She asked me if somebody was forcing me to "sell my body" (I hate that phrase. I am not selling my body it remains with me at all times I am selling a service stupid) and whether I was proud to be a common prostitute. It dawned on me that I have some foolish friends.
See although I choose not to disclose my personal business and occupation to the world I am not ashamed. It is my choice and it is an informed one. To quote Patrick Henry - "Give me freedom or give me death". Being an escort is not harming anyone. She failed to realise that this isn't an act of desperation nor is something I have to do for drug money. It is me doing something I am good at, providing people with a service they desire and thus setting myself up for my future.
Kinda like the fact that she is a waitress just without the constant odour of onions and a lot more lingerie
