50% agree with you. 3 Arena will always be called the Point, but very very few refer to Lansdowne Rd anymore. Even die hard rugby heads call it the Aviva.

I’m disappointed with the outrage toward this innovative idea. Realistically, the inter-county game is moving in the direction, rather rapidly of “they who can spend most, shall achieve most”. I believe this is true in many aspects for counties who have the ability to compete at the latter stages of competition. Any and all revenue streams should be welcomed.

Let’s not forget this isn’t some watershed moment in the corporatisation of the GAA, we already have UPMC Nolan Park, Netwatch and Cullen Park, amongst others. With correct dialogue and negotiation I’m sure an Irish owned company like SuperValu would be happy with “SuperValu Páirc UI Chaoimh”. Similarly in Galway it was reported that Dexcom wanted rights to Pearse Stadium, worth 100s of thousands. Galway declined and within a week Connacht Rugby had accepted this generous offer. Again, would Dexcom Pearse Stadium be so bad? That money would have been a welcome boost.
