I think you're right Amber, I'll not try the maths but say there are several hundred escorts that COULD pay tax but don't, if that income stream suddenly appears on the Revenue books then they will take notice of it. Because being an escort isn't illegal then there is no reason why anyone eligible couldn't register, ok don't tell the Revenue your actual job but like you suggest therapist etc would be fine.

im a therapist on mine U have to pay if U use acounts in Ireland like U have to explain where it comes form
Mortages etc plus U dnt want a gap on ur cv

Makes sense to just pay the piper nd get a lovely accountant to do it coz im lost

But U pay tax to the country U reside in for over 50% off year if U have car insurance utilty bills in ur name here ur in the system the tax man does come looking pay ur dues he doesnt

I'm down as an holistic therapist. Only reason I don't pay in Ireland is I'm resident in England for 183 days or more. The Shadow Tax Economy unit aren't people you want to get too intimate with

That is fair and I understand that. If you are working on student visa paying tax isn't really your issue. But there are a lot of EU citizens here too, I hope that people don't think because they are an escort they cannot legally pay tax because they can.

Again I could be wrong but I'm not sure that all EU citizens are entitled to work or pay tax here under their home states accession terms.

And if paying tax would get any benefits from all the pax paid, free condons, free oil massages, free lub, if not getting clients would claim social welfare and so on?

I'm the same as Lucy. I pay mine under the guise as 'Life Coach' and also reside in the UK for over 183 days of the year. As Saoirse says, you don't want a big black hole in your CV and people would question how you make ends meet, especially if like me, you are not claiming any social. I like standing on my own two feet and knowing that I am contributing to society.

It's entirely legal to be an escort. It's also tax deductible for lube, condoms, travel, accommodation and so forth. I don't put escort on my form but I know many ladies who do.


There are always benefits in paying tax. Not being arrested for tax evasion being the main one, and having all your assets seized while you explain where the cash came from.

again, working as escort is not infact illegal, activities associated with it are,,

if u work for yourself, on ur own u are in fact legal under current laws
