I just think things are now going to move into the private market Apollo because of two things,

    1. People I don’t think care about space and space travel these days like the did in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

    2. Countries don’t have the money to spend on it.

We need new dreams. I'm hoping NASA decides to push towards Mars but it seems like for the moment they're hoping for the private sector to step up with commercial space travel.

We need to listen to Carl Sagan...

God help us, the last thing we need is space travel to become commercialised. Private companies have a lot to offer, but I hope only in partnership with an organisation like the UN. Humanity must reach out into space under the authority of its governments, not corporations. We're rightly fucked if we take our squabbles over natural resources between nation-states, companies, or individuals into space.

I dont think it mattered who was in office...more to do with the recession and the fact that NASA dont have anything at the moment to replace the shuttle...and it looks like they will have to pay private companies to shuttle their astronauts back and forth to the ISS..so perhaps this is the beginning of the end for NASA..
