Unless your charged nothing comes up
Thats not the case in the UK, not sure about the republic.

My last role meant that I used to have to work with Ofsted and my then partner had a caution dating back some time when he'd had an altercation with his X wife. There was no violence and he was never charged but the caution showed on his CRB and he had to sign certain things relating to the business over to me as ofsted would not allow his name to show as director!

It was a mess and could have caused lots of trouble.

Credit history and social network sites are a world apart from a CRB check Bronte. A CRB check is where your prospective employee gets your criminal history from the Gardaí (police). An employer can only do this if the job is a "Position of Responsibility" i.e. you are working with children or special needs or will have access to sensitive information.

As I stated earlier a caution will show up. You don't get a caution unless you have been charged.

Here is what In have found

    Details disclosed

When a prospective employee is vetted by the Gardaí the details of all convictions and prosecutions are disclosed to the authorised liaison person in the registered organisation. The details will include all completed prosecutions whether or not they were successful and will also include any pending prosecutions.

Well, there you go then. Apologies, I had thought that a charge would show up.

I think we are all missing an important element that has been in this system for decades and thats the human element. I for one do not believe that your "file" held by the Gardai doesn't show everything, including their own biased opinion about you, then when someone requests a check this file is checked and the word comes back officially or unofficially, stay away subversive, prostitute whatever, this is how it works. Its totally illegal but I have know friends and occassionally been affected myself over the years, I have never had a criminal conviction or charge yet I know of friends who have been told by Gardai, you are mixing in the wrong company. We would be foolish to ignore this element as it is the most prevalent one in this country.
