Default Re-releasing old movies in 3D??

I've read recently that one of my favourite childhood movies, The Lion King, is being re-released in cinemas in 3D later this year... Apparently the Titanic and Beauty & The Beast will also be given the same treatment for next year. Anyone else think this is a bad thing? I expect they're just trying to appeal to more modern audiences but is this a bit too far? Will we see more movies like these follow the same lead? I've always been a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but... Dunno honestly.

I must say I'd love to see one of my childhood favs in 3D. Star wars, I recon it would look great in 3D.
