Lil Wayne is akin to real hip hop, as Poison is to heavy metal...
What these guys, and their producers did was exploit the market to make a helluva lot of money, it's a pity, because, as John Coltrane started, many others attempted to follow. With smooth rhythm's, fantastic wordplay, and of course the samples of these the origins of what Hip Hop should have stayed true too.
It is very important to mark the difference between rap and hip hop in my opinion.. and then in this case, the distinction between the poster from Vindictus. Many American artists still try to produce beats, and rhymes that stay true to the founding fathers of the wonderful, and soulful music of the mid to late 20th century.
An example, fast forward to 24:35 for a fantastic remix of an original hip hop song over a jazz beat:
