Today is a day that really makes me proud to be irish,it is a truly historic day for both countries in the hope of building better realations between the two nations.

I don't know why, all along I have absolutely no problem with her coming but now that she's here I can't help but find myself getting annoyed, probably because I was saying to myself it won't effect me but with all the traffic disruptions and business is hard enough as it is without having to deal with all the logistical problems her visit is causing me

I really don’t understand all the fuss.
History is history, and those who have issues, should look closer at history and perhaps realise that it’s the Dutch Monarchy who are descendent from Young Willie of the Orange. Even the Dutch have had to swallow some pride; after all they even sing praise to “Duitsland” (Dutch for Germany) in their National Anthem as the birth place of William.
If they can put history to rest, why can’t we.
I know some wonderful people from Britain (I’m part British), in fact from almost every Country in the world.
Accept it as it is meant to be, a visit by a Head of State.
Hey, perhaps we can even hand her the keys and the mortgage bill, and ask for a “dig out” then rejoin the Commonwealth, and keep looking forward.
Our forefathers fought side by side, let’s not shame their efforts.

As an Englishman living over, it fills me wiht pride to read these sort of comments being made. I really hope this visit passes off smothly and allows our 2 GREAT nations to work together in future for the good of each other.

As for the Queens visit, it's about time people here moved on and realised that without historic days like today we would still be arguing about a visit in 50 years.

besides a bigotted minority i dont think there is any problem with out relations with britain. is it truely historic....more symbolic than anything else. i don't think it will go down in any history books as a special event. 2 heads of state, who have little power, meeting each other...nothing more
