Thanks Ladiesman. It's just more bad news!! Here are some excerpts from the article:

Local Fianna Fail deputies Willie O’Dea and Niall Collins have now backed calls to change the legislation regarding the sex trade, and bring those who purchase sex - rather than just those who supply it - before the courts.

Nationally, there were some 1052 women offered for sale through eight randomly selected internet sites. Dublin and Cork had the highest number of escorts available, at 625 and 72 respectively

Karen McHugh, chief executive of Doras Luimni, said it is evident that “the demand for paid sex is an ongoing issue here in Limerick as well as every other village, town and city across the country.”
“To meet this demand, women predominantly and young people are being enticed and coerced to come to Limerick to service this demand.
“A societal and legislative change is required to show that it is not acceptable to purchase sex for male predominantly gratification,” said Ms McHugh.

It doesn't bode well for us. Next they'll be pushing for mandatory male castration!

The only TD who has said anything supportive has been Mick Wallace. But I fear the overwhelming majority of TD's (hypocrites that they are) like Willy O'Dea will support the TORL campaign.
"Don't be reckless with other people’s hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours"

Ain't that the truth... Can't say I'll be surprised. I just hope that somewhere amongst the TDs is one who is intelligent enough to realise that there are ladies out there who do it of their own choice, and then try to battle for their right to work as they wish.

The people who want to criminalise the trade certainly are a load of clowns. Everybody should register with the Limerick Leader and leave a comment complaining about this nonsense proposed legislation.

Who'd listen? Would people actually accept that not everyone in this industry is trafficked/forced into it? Would they be able to acknowledge that some women choose to do this of their own free will, for whatever reason? Or are they just too misguided and naive to see common sense? I'm inclined to go with the latter but that's just me as I've no faith in humanity...
