It would be a good idea to email TD's and senators to protest against proposals to criminalise the clients of sex workers. The following webpage from Turn off the blue light makes it very easy to do this. It's just a matter of putting in your email address and name:

Using that method many people can email many TD's fast.


You can still if you wish make up your own letter.

Why do you have a problem with this proposal?
If you were both caught in the act, do you really think it's ok that only the lady (should probably say vendor here as it could be male) faces prosecution?

I don't think anyone is saying it is OK that the lady be prosecuted. Neither should face prosecution for being caught in the act, if it is between consenting adults.

The problem with this proposal and the likes of Ruhama is that they are assuming all women are trafficked and forced into escorting, which is clearly not the case.

Couldn't agree more.
I'd be very much in favour of it being fully legalised.
However that's not going to happen in this backward thinking country.

Well said Rodders. Ive actually emailed a couple of TD's with no sign of a response. Did they bother reading it? Probably not. Did I waste my time? Probably. Are their views on par with what you said Rodney? We can more than likely assume so, at least for most of them.

Please keep up emailing TD's and Senators. Senator Mary White provided us with some support in pointing out that it was a bad move to criminalise the clients of sex workers so she deserves an email saying well done. You will actually get responses from some representatives. Alan Shatter the Minister for Justice would be someone to email. The more that are emailed by the more people the better though. By the way contacting representatives is completely confidental.
