He doesn't ,and a person seeking help is in the same, or worse posititon than if he/she didn't go to the GP. Those antidepressants can lead people into a medical blackhole.

Yet again your wrong Anti S. A good GP who is dealing with depression will refer the patient to a specialist for treatment. Different medication works for different people . Yes these drugs do mimic brain chemicals, doctors will also admit that they don't fully understand how anti-depressants work. But they do. Normally the drugs begin to work within three or four days, but I agree the full benefit of these drugs may take a month to 6 weeks to work however, they do get people moving in the right direction. The drugs available have improved greatly over the past few years without the side effects of previous medication. I can supply names if you wish
Well, the GPs I saw near Dublin's City Centre didn't refer me to specialits, nor did they say the drugs took less than a week to work more like two weeks, even 6 weeks; cant remember what the one said, but I was really there for muscle relaxers and sleepers. If you mention being deoressed and the natural remedy St. Johns Worth they'll hurry up and give you what you want

I'm glad they got their act together, and they worked for you, but I'll rough it if it's all the same.

You shouldn't talk about yourself that way, and if anything was gained by this thread is the power of positive thinking

No, it really wasn't. It was the idea that going to your doctor and seeking support is the best way to go about sorting yourself out.

And if your Doctor does prescribe pills give them a go. 3.8 million people do, every year, in the UK alone. You are not mad, you are not alone, and there is help.
