Thread: Sexless marriage/long-term relationship

  1. Default Sexless marriage/long-term relationship

    Hello there,

I'm writing a feature on sexless marriages/relationships for a leading Irish newspaper. If you are in a sexless relationship, or a relationship where sex is rare, could you PM me? I'd like to ask you a few questions by email - completely anonymously, of course.

    All the best

You're the same reporter that Patricia came along and said you were genuine and ended up writing everything out of context and of course the undertone being escorts are all trafficked and god love them being prayed upon by us sex starved males, please

This is the thread about her last article, on my post I included scanned images of the article so you can all read it and make up your own minds whether you want to reply or not.

Read that article and was very dissappointed by it.
I suppose there is bound to be increased media attention in the next while as a result of the Turn Off The Red Light campaign.

As you are a journalist I would beg and plead with you to, unlike in the article above, take a proper balanced and non-judemental view of the women who work in this industry.
A large number of women working in Ireland as escorts are doing so entirely of their own free will and as long as they work on their own are breaking no laws.
If the proposals of TORL get put into law it will do nothing but put the entire industry into the hands of criminal gangs and vastly increase the danger the independant women workers will face.

It would be naive of course to suggest that there is no such thing as trafficked women working in Ireland but TORL, despite their claims to want to protect women, are on a course to creating more danger for more women from criminal gangs.
It will have the opposite effect to what they claim it will.
They quote the Sweedish model as what they want but dont seem to mention anywhere that it is now considered by many in Sweeden to be a failure and some there are proposing that it is reversed.

But I get the impression they are more concerned with making a moral statement than protecting women.

Again, I beg you, put your obvious personal predjudices aside and take a neutral, balanced view. Isnt that what journalists are supposed to do anyway?

This will probably fall on deaf ears but worth saying anyway.
You never know, someone, somewhere might look at the issue without hysteria and melodramatic rhetoric taking over.

For what it's worth, I was interviewed by Kate Byrne for the earlier article, and I don't feel I was misrepresented. Obviously not everything I said was used, but I wouldn't have expected it to be. The article as a whole seemed tilted somewhat towards the anti-prostitution side, but that could have been because they are more enthusiastic about talking to journalists.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

Journalists in Ireland are usually narcisstic cokeheads in disguise.

Journalist. The very word itself brings the red mist down in front of my eyes.

Bunch of blood sucking ...... somethings who regularly put legs on stories. Their motto seems to be "never let the truth get in the way of a good story". Why can't they just f**k off and get a real job ? Bunch of jumped up nobodies.
