I'm not saying your not entitled to your opinion I am merly suggesting that you don't use abuse that has gone on be a deciding factor in your argument. Everyone has a right to decide themselves on the positives and negatives of religion but I don't see the abuse which you mentioned as having religious significance.

Fair enough but that's not really the point that I was trying to make. If you truly believe yourself to be a Catholic then by all means tick Catholic on the census form. My point is that people who are just automatically going to tick Catholic out of a sense of tradition and familiarity should think about these issues and consider if they really want to continue to support an institution that believes the protection of their wealth, power and influence is more important than the protection of children.

I understand that you are trying to make a distinction between Catholics and the organisation and that's fair enough and correct. I'm not trying to influence Catholics, I'm trying to influence the "I don't believe in God but I'm still Catholic" 's .

I am just as you said separate the religion from the clergy but if you then you day they are more interested in wealth than children you are not doing the same and you are using them as an excuse to knock the religion which isn't right. B2 all means people vote for what you think big like every vote think of the policies not the candidates

I just filled in my census form several hours early (take that, society!!!) and marked "no religion".

I see where you're coming from. I would argue though that it's not half as dodgy as having an organisation responsible for covering up child sex abuse having authority in our schools.
