Personally I think crocodiles would be better. I'd say the rats would look up to him like some sort of deity. Just imagine adding whiskers and mouse ears to his head... The similarities between him and a common rat would be microscopic. Takes one to know one as they say.
Why crocodiles you ask? a) test if he can swim. b) if he can swim, it'll be a fitting swimming race between him and the crocsDamn... Am I evil? :/
