    Default ryan airs newest scam......

Ryanair is to introduce €2 levy to fund the cost of its obligations under EU law which state that airlines must cover the reasonable expenses of passengers delayed for reasons beyond an airline’s control.

Mr O'Leary was never going to get caught for any legislation that the EU might incorporate.

Dont see why airlines should have to pay compensation when a volcano goes off ffs. Refund, yes of course, but compensation? GTFO.
All businesses build things like this into their costs but dont tell you about it.
So what would be the reaction if he just added €2 to the fare on every flight? Nothing, it would still be cheap as fcuk.

The only reason he is doing it this way is to stir up controversy. Theres no such thing as bad publicity.

when i was a kid an airline flight was hundreds,
O'Leary's dad headed GPA, another trend setting business.

O'Leary figured empty seats were real waste on flights, if he
could get a bum on it, the fare would be money off the fuel bill.
he has encouraged people to travel more freely, his business model
    thirsts revenue too.

Yep this is true. I'd guess Ryanair just about break even on Flight ticket sales : flight overheads.
The whole point of putting bums on seats is essentially to get 200 or so people on metal tube for a couple of hours so they can sell you overpriced crap. Tis why they practically give them away sometimes.

Lol as for making O'Leary Taoiseach/PM, the guy would probably knick everything that wasn't nailed down in the Dail when he left office. He's an arrogant feck but you can't help but admire him in some ways.

O'Leary's father had nothing to do with GPA, Guinness Peat Aviation was setup and run by Tony Ryan, later founder of Ryanair. O'Leary was a tax consultant for Stokes Kennedy who meet with Ryan and advised him on his taxes, also O'Leary was in school with one of Ryans sons so that helped him get a job as Tony Ryans assistant / advisor. If memory serves, I think he took Dennis O'Briens job. The when Ryanair was up and running they went through one or two CEO's before O'Leary (who was keeping an eye on the place for Ryan) was given the reigns.
