I wouldn't worry about that. If she was in a bar, I guess she was in company. She may have been just a little unreasonably paranoid that if she acknowledged your smile, you might take that an invitation to go over and chat to her.

On the other hand, maybe she just despises you?

No unpleasant incidents really, when clients have seen me in town, the most they did was to nod and smile.
In some cases I got no reaction at all if they weren't alone.

That was no bother at all, of course.

Nothing wrong with a smile and a wink.....just as you might give ANY pretty girl a smile and a wink.....it's nice to be nice and you never know where it might lead!!
