Yes Erika, Champix (as Willyup says) is available from your GP. Usually prescribed when Nicotine replacement therapies have failed. Its a tablet taken twice a day for 12 weeks. The good news is you are allowed to smoke for the first week while the tablets kick in. It is probably the most effective medically proven method of smoking cessation.

It works centrally on the brain and prevents craving for cigarettes. It does have some side effects e.g. bad dreams, sleep disturbance and stomach discomfort. A recent study however, showed that the side efects were no different from a placebo (except for the stomach disturbances).

As you have pointed out Erika, smoking appears to be an occupational hazard for escorts. The uncertain nature of appointments, the waiting around, the long days, difficult clients and the need to stay slim all add up.

If you have decided to try going on Champix (Varinicline), it's probably best to start it when you are taking a break from escorting to give yourself the best chance possible at quiting. Weight gain when stopping smoking is always a problem, so investing in a regular exercise regime at the same time you quit smoking is the best possible advice (given the other health benefits of exercise).

Try reading the stop smoking book by Alan Carr which is great. A lot of the addiction is the hand mouth action so get some visual aids. Try cutting up carrots into sticks and putting them into a box- sounds silly but then every time you reach for a fag you can instead chew a healthy treat (i love carrots ). Lastly- you are gorgeous- an extra pound or two would make no difference. Fat vs Health.

    Good luck hun
i heard that book is brilliant, although very long lol

    Hi Baby
We are in the same boat.
    I smoke a lot
But in my case it is due to lonliness and boredom.
When i was with my girlfriend i reduced my cigarette from 20 a day to 5 a day
    This is my situation
it may not apply to you but give it a try
Take your mind off smoking for most part of the day and do something interesting

Will power is the key I would think, never been a smoker myself but to put the conversation on a slightly different tangent I managed to give up all sex including masturbation for 6 weeks before. While will power is the key I would recommend going to the gym. I went everyday during that test I put myself through and it made a huge difference.

So replace the cigarettes with the gym - that both solves the problem of finding something to replace the smoking AND you having to worry about getting fat

[For any of you wondering why I gave up sex / masturbation I had some exams and sporting goals I needed to achieve in the same 6 week span - no pain no gain right ]

    PMd you, Erika.
A lot depends on WHY you want to give up.
Is it because of the consequences for your health? The fact that it damages your skin, hair, teeth etc? The cost?
Or the simple freedom from an addiction?

    Good luck.
