Hasn't there been some controversy over the amount of women elected to the Dáil? Some feminists seem to think that we should have a quota of women in there no matter what.

never understood that myself, if women want more women in the Dail then they should vote for them, look at the amount of women that did not get elected. Having a quota of any sex in a job is just daft

No quota....NEVER...if they're good enough and they're elected then I wouldn't have a problem with 80-90% women in the Dail.....but I think the idea of quotas only means putting people, who are not up to the job, in just to make up the numbers...bad idea.

I could see no reason to vote for any particular party this time - so I voted by gender. Unfortunately the twenty something blonde didn't get elected.
BTW I remember reading somewhere that women politicians are less prone to corruption and women leaders are more likely to tackle hard issues, rather than putting them off.

To have ANY SORT OF equality , the influence of the church has to be abolished at every level of society, as it advocates differences in gender in the first place.
In the eye of the church, we are all equal, just some are more equal then others.( A doctrine taken over by communism and socialism )

Sur dont the girls here tackle hard issues everyday, they can even make soft issues hard and after awhile hard issues soft.
