All Message Board Issues Now Fixed

Hi,

Following our downtime on Saturday we had 2 problems with the message boards on Sunday:

[1] Our "login strikes" system was telling some users they had logged in too many times with the wrong password and locking their account for 15 minutes in error.

[2] A problem with vbulletin URLs not being displayed correctly, thus dead links on the forums

There were no problems with other areas of the website, just the message boards.

Both the message board problems have been resolved now.

These message board problems were not a continuation of the major problem we had on Saturday. That problem was fixed on Saturday and we are confident we have put in measures to ensure it won't happen again. Rather these message board issues were the result of our moving to a new data centre. (For any of you really techie out there, it was to do with a load balancer that was set up was feeding a proxy IP to vbulletin for all users instead of a real IP or something like that!) The tech team got on and fixed them but obviously their prime concern was ensuring the new hosting set up was solid, as keeping the site, specifically escort adverts, up always has to be our top priority as it impacts on escorts when their adverts are not up. So it was a case of ladies first, message boards second!

Of course I am sorry for the inconvienience to those of you that wanted to use the message boards yesterday and were unable to due to these problems.

It's been a long weekend. I don't know what more to say than sorry, and don't worry, we got on top of it and it won't happen again (we are confident of this). Thank you to everyone for your understanding, many of you have been very kind to us throughout this. And of course if you want to complain like hell, go ahead, as we did let you down this weekend!

I totally understand as i have had this problem myself in the past!
I think the main issue is reimbursement as it is a business after all.
I think the time that the site was down should reflect the reimbursement to the paying advertisers.
These things happen but like any business if you have paid for a product/service and it is not delivered a full refund is expected.
I'm not sure that one day free advertising is a good enough gesture to your valued loyal clients.
It's just not good business.

Again i applaud this site for its quality and constant care for our safety.

servers moved address and never told postman so he delivered some to old address instead of new address

Thanks Anon.....makes perfect sense to me now. Typical of An Post. I don't know how often the postman has delivered letters to my address that clearly stated a different address on the envelope or they're addressed to a person who does'nt even live at my address.........and as for the junk mail......I think we call that spam here, but I always thought spam was a sort of meat that you bought in a tin.
