    Default Apologies for Downtime Today

    Hi,

I would like to apologise to everyone for the downtime today, especially the advertising escorts of course, as E-I downtime directly affects their businesses.

We aim to keep E-I up at all times, but unfortunately we had big and unpredicted IT problems today that interrupted service. We got E-I back up as quick as we could and have taken measures to prevent the same thing happening again. I'm sorry for the downtime.

The problems have now been resolved, but we had to move to new servers and some people might still be having trouble getting onto E-I as DNS updates have taken place, and depending on the DNS caching of their ISPs they might still be being directed to our old DNS. This issue should resolve itself quickly but some ISPs will be faster than others to update their DNS.

    Pat x

Thanks Patricia, is it time for a martini yet?
So for those (Carlos) scratching your heads, basically E-I has moved house to a new address (internet speak = DNS) and the postman might not be aware they moved untill he gets the update from his boss (internet speak = isp)

Thank you Anon, that has cleared the issue up completely.
Pat, to say that it effects our business is a mild understatement. Is there some small way to show the advertising customers a small consideration for the inconvenience?

(Excellent explaination Anon, even IT imbeciles like me can now understand it. And I thought it was a Govt conspiracy to shut E-I down!! Yes I have problems!)

sympathies go out to all the escorts that lost a days business. it impacts them the most, especially difficult for those touring.

i had visions of the Turn off the Red light campaign getting aggressive in their tactics and storming the premises, military style.

Hope all is OK now, when things go wrong in IT, they seriously go wrong, it is very stressful and you can only go as quick as the hardware allows no matter who is screaming down your necks.

Thank God Rodney. I thought I was the only one who was getting paranoid!

(Although I think you meant "Turn off the Red Light".. Turn off the Blue Lights are our guys)

For those who want a slightly more technical explanation, DNS means 'de new server' and ISP means 'irritatingly slow postman'

    Thank you
