Unmoderated Section

Can get get a new section added to the forum, which would be largely unmoderated?

I think that would be a fair way of dealing with the frequent [ complaints about ] excessive moderation.

The idea would be that if you're an idiot, addicted to reporting posts, or a delicate baby, who takes offence at stuff strangers write on an internet forum, that you stay out of this section.

The only moderation I would think would be necessary would be the removal of spam, or anything that could get the site sued. The section would only become visible when a person logs in.

I thought that excisted in the escort-ireland.com section.

I think we've discussed the problem many times, and in many cases, it's generally turned into a them vs us slagging match. My last thread ( The Pity Stage ) on the issue, was dragged off-topic, and locked before I got a chance to get it back on topic.

Unless there is a specific misunderstanding of the problem, can we please dedicate this thead to the solution? I think that in general the problem has been adequately discussed elsewhere.

but can't help but observe in the past two months EI seems to be eating itself from the inside out- if a solution isn't found soon, it's seems clear EI may be damaged very badly!

i think that allowing any poster be they a new member or a member of long standing post a post thats insulting and abusive and raceist to any natonality or race will do more damage to this site than the moderation.

I think my solution gives us the best of both-worlds here. It would alleviate the tension that Franken996 notes. It would hide the 'offensive' posts from the namby pambys who can opt out of visiting such a section, while the adults can continue chatting without fearing the rug being torn from under us by a moderator.

i do agree that some of the moderation does sometimes seem a bit heavy handed but in most cases its fair

Perhaps, but this thread isn't about your opinion on what's fair and what isn't. Fact is that there is a problem. My opinion is that you're the problem, after you admitted to reporting a thread for closing down, but like your opinion it's outside the scope of this thread.

and the only people that have a problem with it are the friends of the poster that has gotten banned.

Eh? Bullshit! I have a problem with it [ hence my starting this thread ], and I have no allegiances on this forum. I find that remark offensive, but because I'm an adult, I'm not too bothered by it.

i think you have this a bit wrong. i'm not the problem and if i was the problem i would have been banned but i was not alac was so i and the managers can see this clearly.
i also was not the only one that reported his post there must have been quiet a few who did as samlad has said.

How about this...Sam puts Alec's post back up, say for 1 day only, as a poll.
Everybody votes on whether they think that sort of post should be allowed or not.
Then we'll know who's in the majority.
I bet the number of complainers was minuscule compared to the number of people who simply got a laugh out of it.

maybe if he had made his post in the soap opera section where it might have been taken as a joke i would agree with you but he didnt he made it in general chat where it was raceist and abusive and his ban should have been left and not brought back to a 5 day ban just because his friends on here all cried about it.
